Wisconsin will host will host the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championship on November 17, 2018 at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course, located on the west side of Madison near the University Ridge Golf Course.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring the national championship to Madison,” UW Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Mick Byrne said. “When we built this course, we dreamed about hosting the NCAA meet and now that dream has come true. This is an exciting day for not only the university, but for the city of Madison, all Badger fans and the running community in the Midwest.”
It marks the first time since 1978 that Wisconsin will host the national cross country meet as the school hosted the men’s cross country championship where it was on the other side of the city at Yahara Hills Golf Course. In addition, the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championship marks the first time since the 1998 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship that the university has hosted a national championship in Madison.
If Wisconsin were to win, they will become the first team since 1959 to win a National Championship on its home course
