Topo Terraventure 2
This model, like all Topo models, has a foot-shaped toe box similar to Altra, but a narrower fit in the mid- and rear-foot. This shoe has a smooth feel under-foot, and a stable toe-off feel. With aggressive Vibram traction, this model is a great option for uneven, slippery terrain.
Saucony Peregrine ISO
Saucony’s lighter-weight trail option (compared to the Xodus) is slightly less flexible this year, with the re-introduction of the rock plate. The upper hugs the foot well because of a slightly narrower fit. The midsole flares wide in the forefoot for additional support. This trail shoe has an aggressive, sticky outsole that grips slippery terrain well.
Altra Superior 4.0
The Superior is a light weight trail shoe from Altra that features a removable rock-plate. Add the rock-plate for more protection from the trails, and remove it for a more flexible, lighter feel. This newer version of the Superior fits slightly on the long side of things. The upper material is highly flexible and breathable.
New Balance Zante Trainer
This new model from New Balance takes the running shoe-like features of the Zante, and blends them with the lateral support of a cross-training shoe. Light, flexible, with a longer lacing system for a secure fit, this shoe is ideal for those functional fitness classes that incorporate a small amount of running.
Brooks Ravenna 10
With the new Guide Rails, the support in this model feels like it extends further forward and smoothly guides the foot as it rolls from heel to toe. The forefoot feels like it fits slightly deeper and wider than last year’s version. We feel like the midsole is a little softer. This light-weight stability shoe is basically the Launch with Guide Rails.
Nike Air Zoom Vomero 14
The latest Vomero boasts a full React foam midsole and full-length Zoom Air unit, which contribute to the soft, plush, yet responsive feel of this latest installment in the Vomero legacy. A classic, high-cushioned model for those looking for more protection from the pavement.
Asics Gel-DS Trainer 24
The newest DS-Trainer has a knit upper that makes the shoe fit slightly wider than previous versions. The midsole feels responsive and snappy when running, just like it always has. This classic light-weight stability shoe from ASICS is great for anything from tempo work to marathon races.
