We are saddened to announce that this year’s Full Moon 5K has been cancelled. We originally were hoping to postpone it until October 1st due to COVID, but after much discussion with community members and staff it is clear to us that the situation surrounding COVID may not be safe enough in October to host an in-person event.
The Full Moon 5K has been an annual race for us to raise funds for local youth running programs and to gather the community around a low-cost, neighborhood style race. This year was going to be the first year that proceeds would also go towards the Karl Harter Head and Neck Cancer Scholarship, in honor of the late Karl Harter, Movin’ Shoes’ past owner who passed away in January.
While we won’t be able to gather our community this year, we are beginning to plan a fundraiser for both Lincoln Elementary School Running Club and Karl’s scholarship fund. Please watch out for a separate email with more information on how to contribute to the fundraiser. We sincerely hope you consider donating what would have been your race registration to the fundraiser.
This was a very difficult decision to make, and we thank you for understanding. Thank you to those of you who have participated in past Full Moon races with us. We hope you are staying safe, well, and still movin’ during these strange times. Until next year!
